Economic and technical determinants of municipal solid waste incineration

Summary/Abstract: Waste is not only an environmental threat or contaminant but also a source of materials as well as a sphere of human responsibility for nature. In the municipal solid waste management there is an observable tendency of quitting landfilling as a method of waste utilization towards reuse and recycling, also including reuse of energy in incineration plants. The process of MSW incineration becomes a substitute of waste landfilling, which predominated in past decades. It is economically sensible, technically feasible and regulated by the EU and Polish law.
