Summary/Abstract: This study briefly describes the contribution of the Roman Diocese to the development of psaltic church music and church choral music through education in the first half of the 20th century. Over time, church singers schools in Bacău, Tecuci, Focşani, Roman and the Roman Theological Seminary in turn addressed the growing interest to train parish priests in the region as proficient chanters and music connoisseurs. Prominent figures, teachers, psaltes and conductors of that era included: Gh. Alexandrescu (Bacău), Dimitrie Budescu (Tecuci), Rev. V. Hilohi, Marin Alexandru (Focşani), Vucol Dornescu, Dimitrie N. Pipa, Deacon Şt. Pruteanu, Deacon Dimitrie Teofănescu, George Pascu (Roman) etc.
