Summary/Abstract: In the last few decades the literature on social sciences has used more and more often the concept of “innovation” and “learning” in the case of corporate concepts as communities, regions, giving it a broader meaning, extrapolating it with territorial innovation (Territorial Innovation Models-TIMs), and connecting it to regional innovation. The purpose of this paper is to give an insight into the recent literature on the topic of innovation in its territorial meaning, the concept of learning (social) region as well as on the ways this concept can be used in the analysis of the implementation of the LEADER project in Romania.
