Summary/Abstract: The aim of the present study is to examine and evaluate the legal issues relevant to bringing a lunar property claim, the boundary between what is private activity in space and what is government activity in space, the commercial and economic potential of space travel and Lunar development, and the potential for valuable economic resources on the Moon. I am specifically interested in how previous research investigated the concept of mining outer space, the potential of the planet Mars as a future site of human settlement, the freedom of access to celestial bodies, and the exclusive and monopolistic commercial practices in space.
