Summary/Abstract: The results presented in this paper are part of a study conducted in the project: ‘Be a manager for your own business!’ that was financed by the European Social Fund, Sectoral Operational Programme Human Resources Development (SOP HRD) 2007-2013, and the Romanian Government, ID POSDRU/92/3.1/S/49297; during April 2011–March 2014. This paper investigates the entrepreneurial intentions of 653 final-year students and 212 unemployed persons from the South East Region and the South West – Oltenia Region of Romania. Only 244 persons have shown interest in enrolling on entrepreneurial courses developed through the Project with the declared intention of starting a new business, and less than one third, 80 persons, have initiated small businesses.
