Summary/Abstract: The article applies methods of traditional and potential demography in analyzing average life expectancy and life potential of Bulgarian Population for the period 1965-2000. The results show that due to the demographical aging of population, "hyper-morbidity" of men and the drop in birth rate, by the end of the period the average life expectancy for men will be 1,60 years shorter, and for women - 1,80 years longer than it is at present. For the same reasons by 2020 the relative share of population too young to be active will lessen in the overall life potential of the population and, respectively, the relative share of active and past-active-age population will grow for both sexes.
