Summary/Abstract: 20th century is noticed as a process which is tried a new dimension to mind and scientific concepts in the whole world. Within these concepts; art, artist, community and art work was placed in the centre of events in which political events has become world-view and power has become ruling by a new impetus. In short while the art is following up the political events ambitiously moved the social events to the universal dimension.In this process;different trends and political power balances are taking place in German art. German social life, which is in a new formation and the balance of government has been abandoned to an oppressive and more hard management approach. Max Beckmann is one of the many German artists who witnessed closely to this social change.In this article, Max Beckmann,- who is called “Degenerate Artist”- in the period which he lived, his life ,work of arts and his silence criticism against to his own society will be analyzed.
