Movie-island (Pieces from the Picture-music of Tibor Szemzõ)

Summary/Abstract: The essay gives an analysis of four short films (Skullbase Fracture, 1987; Cuba, 1994; The Other Shore, 1998; What There Is, 2005), and the first feature film (A Guest of Life - Alexander Csoma de Kords, 2006) of the composer-musician Tibor Szemzo (1955). The main focus is on the continuity of melodic forms in these works and their relationship with the films of the Hungarian avant-garde.
