New bancassurance standards of insurance investment products and products with saving component

Summary/Abstract: Bancassurance channel and products which are distributed via the insurance and investment have become more and more popular in the recent years. Data in this manner premiums written show that at the end of the IIIQ of 2012, life insurance companies gained higher percentage of income from this source (55%) than non-life (7%) ones. The insurance premium structure indicates the dominant role of investment products (IIIQ 2012 − 87.2% of premiums written). In parallel with the scale of growth in sales volume there is an increase in the failure scale and the decrease of market standards both in terms of product construction, information policy and the process of acquisition. The purpose of this paper is to present the elements of the sale of insurance products and investment banking networks, which have been subjected to criticism by the Insurance Ombudsman and the Financial Supervisory Commission and the reaction of the banking and insurance on the formulated charges. It had its expression in the recommendation approved in 2012 by the Polish Chamber of Insurance and the Association of Polish Banks. A response to comments from the Insurance Ombudsman and the Financial Supervision Commission confirmed the willingness of the two chambers of commerce and their representative bodies for the implementation of the new standards on the market.
