Summary/Abstract: Within the framework of visible globalization requiring the reformation as efficiently as possible of all national judicial systems, the bailiff profession plays a particularly important part. From this point of view, both the specialized international bodies and the Ministries of Justice of each State endeavor to find solutions in order to streamline this profession for the benefit of justiciables. Therefore, at the end of the second Millennium and the first decade of the third one, the bailiff profession has seen one of the most spectacular developments in its entire history. It was marked by the emergence of an exacerbated trend of the profession’s iberalization, though there are still many countries where the bailiff is an official of the State, of the court within which jurisdiction the same carries out his business, respectively. However, trends towards the liberalization of this profession are also present in some of these States. The study hereby offers readers but a brief overview of the development of the profession of bailiff and the trends of the various countries in this respect.
