Summary/Abstract: The author describes the different types of indeclinable animate appellatives of foreign origin in Russian on the basis of their morphological, genetic, semantic and stylistic characteristics. The paper is connected with previous articles published by the author. Much attention is focused on the parallels of indeclinable words in Czech, especially their morphological and word-forming parameters.
