Summary/Abstract: The study aims to describe the development of the Russian language over the last three decades in several areas directly related to the development of the above-mentioned language. This is to map the language situation in Russia with its distinctly dynamic character, as well as the presentation of the changes within contemporary Russian compared to other Slavic languages and their synchronous dynamics. The main attention is devoted to active processes that have been running in contemporary Russian from the second half of the 20th century, especially from the 1980s, to the present. The concrete manifestations of democratisation and liberalisation in contemporary Russian are also described by the author. The dynamic changes of contemporary Russian are also introduced in the important works by Russian linguists written during the 1990-2010 period.
