Summary/Abstract: The author’s initial thesis in this research, contrary to the traditionally established interpretations and evaluations for the April plenum (1956) is: in the progressively developing process of liberalization of the regime, the role of the April plenum is comparatively modest; this plenum is only an episode of medium importance in the development of the changes, and the thesis for the crucial role of the .April line of the Party. is only a propaganda fabrication. The study creates a basis for future discussions on the theme, for eventual adopting of a new meaning or confirmation of the already established formulations of the problem.
