Summary/Abstract: It is beyond doubt that Moses Gaster owes his scholarly reputation in equal measure to his studies in Judaism and those in comparative folk literature. Moreover, much of his research in Jewish Studies is still considered of topical interest nowadays and is still being re-edited as reference works. Nevertheless, both his initial articles and studies, published in his youth in Romanian before October 18851, and the many contributions to prestigious first rank scientific reviews2, gathered, later on, together with his comparative folklore studies, in the three volumes of „Studies and Texts in Folklore, Magic, Medieval Romance, Hebrew Apocrypha and Samaritan Archaeology” (London 1925-1928), or his „Schweich Lectures on the Samaritans”, collected in „The Samaritans.
