Summary/Abstract: In contrast to the usual favouring of complexity and sophistication which is the expression of the predominant technicistic state of mind, the author tries to reaffirm simplicity. He emphasizes that simplicity should not bi identified with immediacy, rudeness and primitivism of the so called „first nature.“ Simplicity which the author advocates is the so called „second immediacy“ achieved through the spiritual improvement. The saint, who radiates spontaneity, sincerity and simplicity, although he is like an innocent child, is not puerile. He does not possess ego but not because he did not have it but because he burnt it out, i.e. he was reborn, spiritually born. The author stresses that simplicity is not just the aim but also the path to the gradual achievement of the aim. The servitude to the concepts of the consumerist society condemns us to being torn, nervous and tense. Instead of „to have“ we should „be.“ The path to one’s own self, fellow men and God leads through simplicity.
