Summary/Abstract: The club appeared in the urban space as a form of modern sociability. Institution of British origin it was propagated by imitation through the entire Europe, starting with the beginning of 19th century. In the modern club, aristocracy was replaced with plebeian elites, especially from the business world and the liberal professions. In Iasi, the most representative club was Jockey Club, but beside this there were other clubs like the Military Club, Concordia or the Tennis Club.
