Summary/Abstract: Increasingly, companies that wish to be considered as excellent, develop their products in accordance to meeting and in many cases exceeding the expectations of their customers including other stakeholders, such as for example the society. These expectations can often relate to environmental aspects. For companies operating in the community as well as within the environmental boundaries, the creation of eco-efficient products, which is to be understood as manifesting social and environental compatibility in the context of sustainable development can poses a serious challenge. The paper presents the concept of eco-efficiency of products and discusses solutions such as eco-efficiency assessment of substitute products.
