Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the paper is to assess the possibility of including the sustainability criteria of integrated management systems in the food industry. Sustainability, development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, is for sure associated with the food production and consumption. There are undertaken a lot initiatives in the world, of varying scope and specificity, limiting the negative impact of food production and consumption on the environment. One of this kinds of sustainable activities in food production and consumption may be changes in the management systems, leading to the incorporation of sustainability criteria in the management and production processes. There are some guidelines to include the sustainable management standards (ISO 20121: 2012, ZNU - Standard Nachhaltiger Wirtschaften, et al), which can be the basis for building universal, recognizable standards. The paper discusses the criteria for the sustainable management of the selected standards and assesses the possibility to include these requirements in the management of integrated management systems (quality, environment, occupational health and food safety.
