Summary/Abstract: This article attempts to identify the factors that determine how effective standardised management systems are in result-oriented organisations that are properly managed. The author’s own research, as well as the results of the audits of organisations that have implemented a quality, environmental, and health and safety management system have been used. The effectiveness of management systems is a consequence of a continuous improvement. It is a repetitive process of improving management systems that is designed to make the overall impacts associated with the activities of the organisation less detrimental. This process should also have its foundations in the policy of the organisation. Therefore, the management of a result-oriented organisation should not only improve the individual components of management systems in accordance with applicable standards, but also activities aimed at improving quality, reducing environmental impacts and minimising risks. The impacts of activities are related to effectiveness, which, in turn, is understood as positively evaluated compliance of the achieved results with the objectives pursued by the management of an organisation. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of standardised management systems in an organisation, the article focuses on factors influencing their improvement, taking into account in particular result-oriented organisations. The article discusses in what way result-oriented organisations are managed. It also demonstrates the role of standardised quality, environmental and safety management systems taking into account the elements of the EFQM model of excellence. Furthermore, it identifies factors that determine the effectiveness of such systems as far as their potential and results of the organisation are concerned.
