Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present the concept of the use of benchmarking as a tool to increase the company’’s competitiveness in relation to other entities. The paper presents the essence of benchmarking. It discusses the concept of competitiveness and presents the factors of competitiveness of an enterprise as a base to create a range of comparisons. It also demonstrates the use of benchmarking in an enterprise and the benefits that may result from this fact. Benchmarking as one of few tools can be used not only to determine the competitive position of a company in a given moment, but thanks to its flexibility and regularity of use, it can also be the basis for the increase of the competitiveness of enterprises, especially in the long term.
