Summary/Abstract: An office is an institution of public trust which plays a servient role for the citizens – petitioners and that is why public administration employees are greatly responsible for correct implementation of tasks assigned to them. What is important are traits and personalities of employees and their correct understanding of a decisive role they have, which frequently concerns significant life issues of other persons. To evaluate ethics of a given behaviour of an employee, which are not clearly described in any ethical standards, general moral standards should be applied, including justice, honesty, reliability, devotion, patience, being helpful to others, giving advices, protection of one’s own dignity and dignity of others, being respectful to privacy of others, protection of the prestige of one’s own organisation. Each public administration employee should apply those standards and ethical values, remembering that his/her work is a part of civil service and appropriate behaviour at work towards petitioners or co-workers is supposed to increase trust of citizens towards officers, improve relations between employees, and, as a result, build a better image of the office.
