Summary/Abstract: Weather risk is necessarily related to the functioning of most entities. One way to hedge against the weather risk is using weather derivatives. Due to the timeliness of this issue, the aim of this article is to present the use of weather derivatives to hedge against the risk of air temperature on the example of beer companies functioning on the Polish market. The first part of the paper is devoted to theoretical considerations on the nature of the weather risk and the origins and characteristics of weather derivatives. The second part presents the use of a weather derivative by a beer producer from the Polish market in order to hedge against the risk of changes in air temperature in summer. The article shows the impact of this kind of collateral on the financial results of the company in 2013. In order to achieve the purpose, there are used following research methods: descriptive, comparative, analysis of the literature, case studies.
