The role of Poland in the European Union fisheries economy

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the trend of development of the Polish fisheries sector to the EU in the period 2004-2012. The purpose of this article was to define the role of Poland in the EU fisheries economy and assessment of international competitiveness of Polish fisheries sector. The analysis shows that in the period of membership in the EU, the share of Poland in the Union production, processing, consumption and trade in fish products has increased. The increase in market share and development of the revealed comparative advantage index show an improvement in the international competitiveness of Polish fisheries sector
