Developing countries in the global fisheries economy

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to identify the trends and determinants of changes in the role of developing countries in the global fisheries economy in the postwar period. This paper presents the evolution of share of developing countries in world production, consumption and international trade in fish and fish products, and assess the internatio-nal competitiveness of developing countries in the fisheries sector. The results of the analysis are presented in four sections, and their generalized version is included as the conclusions.
