Summary/Abstract: The article aims to understand and compare the perceptions of entrepreneurship and indentify used and the expected forms of support for entrepreneurship in the regions of the eastern borderland of the EU and Belarus: Vilnius Region (Lithuania), Latgale Region (Latvia), Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship and Warminsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship (Poland) and in Vitebsk Region (Belarus). The survey was conducted among the inhabitants of these regions, and employees of local government and/or other units of local or regional self-government authorities. The results show that despite the different conditions, which characterize these regions, the prevailing climate favors entrepreneurship. However, some measures of supporting entrepreneurship used by local governments are inadequate to the expectations of the inhabitants of the regions.
