Summary/Abstract: In the article the variation of expenditures per capita between households of different sizes was estimated for each group of consumer goods and services. For this purpose the classical coefficient of intergroup variation was used as the appropriate measure. The calculations were done separately for seven consecutive years from 2006 to 2012. As the result of the study those consumer goods and services were defined: 1) which are characterized by a constant and relatively high variability of expenditure; 2) which are characterized by a constant and moderate variability of expenditure; 3) which are characterized by a constant and relatively low volatility of expenditure. In the case of each of the completed research tasks the intergroup coefficient of variation computed all consumer goods and services together was the base for essential comparisons
