Legal status of voivodeship self-government in the context of its role in the development policy in Poland

Summary/Abstract: In recent years, due to the coordination of Polish development policy with the European Union cohesion policy, stimulating the endogenous growth factors and correcting the regional disparities level has become an important part of it. Some of the tasks have been given to local and regional authorities. The purpose of this article is to present the position of the regional self-government in the context of its role in the development policy in Poland. The paper presents the determinants of regional decentralization and the place of the regional government in the institutional system of development policy, especially in the context of coordination of the self-government policy with the one conducted on the national level. Principles of allocation of the structural funds resources adopted for the new EU budget perspective for 2014-2020 will mean further decentralization of management development policy in Poland.
