Supporting of smart specialization of regions in the European Union in a globalized market

Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the influence of the globalization process on the situation of the European regions. The beneficiaries of the globalization process are these regions which join in the international relations and undertake actions taking into account international, and even global, perspective. The development of smart specialization is important in the context of creating regional strategies which would respond to the challenges caused by the globalization process. Some of the EU regions made this area of support a priority. The solutions concerning the creation of smart specialization strategies contributing to the transformation of regional economies which have been developed by them should be used.
