The concept of success in the value system and linguistic practices in Bulgarian, Russian, British and American linguistic and cultural contexts

Summary/Abstract: Cognitive background for development of value picture of the world makes it possible to study it most thoroughly exemplified by culture concepts (Karasik 2004). As an element of the culture, concepts bear culture meaningful information and their study makes it possible to come to some conclusions concerning special features of separate cultures fixed in the language. That is why we consider it a topical and relevant issue to make comparative analysis of the culture concepts structure reflected in the languages under study. In this work we would like to dwell on how speakers of three languages “measure” success and what attributive structures they use to express evaluation of their achievements.
