Summary/Abstract: The increase in life expectancy and the participation of older people in the population structure is the cause of increasing interest in the problems of old age. Education is one of the ways of activation of the elderly and Universities of the Third Age (U3A) are becoming more and more popular [cf. Koziel and Trafiałek 2007]. The article presents the results of a pilot study which tried to assess the influence of the participation in the U3A on the quality of life of people aged 60 and older. A questionnaire including questions about seniors’ state of health, lifestyle and Dartmouth Coop Function Charts (DCFC) [Nelson et al 1987] determining the overall mental and physical condition of the respondent in the last 4 weeks was applied. Factor analysis and correspondence analysis were used to analyze the data.
