Standards of living of inhabitants of rural areas in Poland in the period 1995-2011

Summary/Abstract: The article presents on-going changes in the living standards of rural inhabitants in Poland between 1995-2011. It is focused on positive as well as negative sides of socio- economic changes witnessed in rural areas. The author describes social aspects of every day life in rural areas, demographic changes, the capability of rural dwellers to operate their own businesses and economic situation. Finally a reference is made to the access of rural inhabitants, including farmers, to cultural institutions, healthcare and education.
