Summary/Abstract: The article aims to show changes in the number and structure of market- places and their importance in the food supply chain, especially in the distribution of local products. The changes taking place in the functioning of marketplaces in Poland in the years 2015–2021 were discussed, with an indication of large diffe- rences in this respect. Marketplaces in Poland noted the role, especially at the local level, which is the reason for specific support for their development. The literature was reviewed, and secondary mass statistics data and a coefficient of variation were used. There was a discussion and reflection on the possibility of developing direct sales through stationary marketplaces.
