Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is an analysis of the current business model of cooperative banks in Poland, the identification of risks associated with it, and an indication of the ways of its improvement. Conducted research allows to conclude that cooperative banks must treat the changes in the macroeconomic environment as an impetus to a further improvement of the interest rate risk and liquidity management systems. It is necessary to take joint actions by the cooperative banks and associating banks aimed at closer integration, as well as increased financial solidarity of all members of the cooperative banking group. The first step to achieve this goal should be the introduction of a system of institutional protection.
