Summary/Abstract: This article aims to analyze whether and to what extent an independently floating exchange rate regime suits macroeconomic circumstances in Poland. In order to answer this question, the author compares Poland with other countries that are under corner and interim regimes. The research revealed that countries with macroeconomic conditions similar to those observed in Poland more frequently used intermediate exchange rate regimes. However, probability of the use of the interim regime in the years in which Poland was classified as using independently floating regime (2001-2008) was within the range of low conclusiveness (not exceeding 75%). It can therefore be concluded that the macroeconomic circumstances observed in Poland allow smooth functioning of corner as well as intermediate exchange rate regime.
