Summary/Abstract: In this article Nader analyses two collages from the series “To my friends the Jews” (1945-47) by the Polish avant-garde artist WładysławStrzemiński. Reading these works as a protest against the spread of brutal violence, harassment, pillage and pogroms on Jews in Poland in the aftermath of World War II, Nader stresses affective values such as empathy and the bond with repressed or suffering people in Strzenmiński’s collages. This allows her to reconstruct the notion of solidarity and humanity.
