Summary/Abstract: This article analyzes the impact of the decisions made by the communist regime in Romanian literature when social realism was introduced as a new rule in the arts. The new cultural trend was not accepted by the Romanian poet because it didn’t reflect his belief. Although he was Romania’s most important poet in 1947, the authorities’ decision was to eliminate him from our culture and literature. The result was Tudor Arghezi’s “literary exile”, which lasted until 1956.
