Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the Lithuanian meat produce export to the USA in 1929–1940. Cattle-breeding as a leading branch in Lithuania’s agriculture played a significant role in the country’s export policy. When in 1929 there appeared opportunities to export meat produce to the USA, they were not exploited till 1935 because the Lithuanian meat production did not meet the requirements of the American market. From 1935 the food-producing company Maistas monopolised foreign export of meat, cattle and poultry. Starting with 1936, meat producers became rather flexible providing a demanding American market with smoked, frozen or canned meat production. On March 3, 1938, the companies Maistas, Pienocentras and Lietūkis established their Trade Mission to regulate the Lithuanian-American trade relations. Meat production export into the USA increased in 1935–1939, and a solid basis for the distribution of Lithuanian meat production was formed.
