Summary/Abstract: Demographic changes, and in consequence an ageing population, have a significant impact on the labour market situation in Poland. People over 50 find themlisselves in a particularly difficult situation as they are affected by a high level of unemployment due to their usually low qualifications, which hinders their mobilization. Hence, measures that facilitate prolonging the professional activity of such people are important and the EU funded projects may foster such measures. The aim of this paper is the analysis and assessment of the situation of people over 50 in the labour market and the presentation of the possibilities for their mobilization supported by the European funds such as the Human Capital Operational Programme. The presented conclusions are based on the authors’ own research carried out among the beneficiaries- project contractors and in the institutions implementing HC OP projects.
