Summary/Abstract: The aim of our study is an empirical investigation of the relationship between innovations and creative destruction. The research was conducted for branches of Polish processing industry between 1997 and 2008. We made an assumption that the level of technology determined both the character of innovation activity and the character of analyzed relationship. Therefore the branches of Polish processing industry were classified into two sectors: of high and low technology level. As the measure of innovations we used the indicator of expenditures on innovation activities. To quantify creative destruction we used the so called evometrics, which allows for the decomposition of creative destruction into two effects: innovation effect (creation) and selection effect (destruction).
