Summary/Abstract: The study, belonging to the auxiliary sciences of history, brings an important contribution to the field of sigillography, through the analysis it does upon several seals. Hence, it deals with a seal imprinted on several old documents, with an original matrix (made of agate), belonging to the Moldavian Princes / Reigning Princes Dimitrie Cantemir (I – 1693; II – 1710-1711) and Ioan Sandu Sturdza (1822-1828). The second part of the article consists of a comparative analysis of national and foreign museum pieces. Through this study, an instrument (a symbolic object) used in some oriental ceremonies was identified. Its origins are to be found in the ancient Persian epoch and it was perpetuated, as form and functionality, until the modern age (the end of the XIXth century) in Iran. Just like other artefacts of Iranian origin, it also circulated on the territory of Europe.
