Summary/Abstract: Throughout the second half of the interwar period, the Iron Guard saw a steady increase in popularity, an expanding influence that reflected into its constant gain in membership. Willing to take advantage of the momentum, the movement developed a complex network of publications of various sizes and purposes, in an attempt to effectively communicate its creed to the masses. With its ideologically rich content and the wide range of topics its limited number of issues encompassed, Axa became one of the most relevant such means of expression. It engaged both high-ranking members of the Iron Guard and young intellectuals with close ties to the movement in debates concerning concepts that were fundamental to the worldview of the Romanian far-right, such as the relationship between nation and state, the imminent decay of democracy and the unstoppable rise of totalitarianism, the new order latter envisioned, the status of ethnic minorities etc. This article aims to point out how some of the aforementioned concepts were understood and formulated by the Legionary elite, implicitly proving the importance of Axa for the ideology of the Iron Guard as a whole.
