Summary/Abstract: According to the monographs which contain literature studies and the results of research concerning the survival of small companies in Poland, the diagnosis process as well as the process of forecasting of the situation of a company in the future based on the application of economic failure warning systems are vital. This requires to undertake activities both on the part of entrepreneurs themselves as well as business environment institutions. The aim of the article is to show actions taken by small companies to survive in the aspect of New Chance Policy. The paper reviews domestic and international literature referring to the problem of small company survival. The author presented the importance of the process of access to information for building knowledge which is necessary for this group of companies to survive within New Chance Policy. The positive role of SME support within the analyzed aid scheme was shown. As to the author the solutions within the education for entrepreneurs which are proposed in New Chance Policy strengthen the possibility of small firms survival. The author stresses the importance of systematization and making information in this process available. The diagnostic area is an essential tool of support of small companies survival processes.
