Summary/Abstract: Dynamic technological, economic and social changes cause a very high risk of a crisis. In effect there is a need to identify reasons which, in the context of these situations, can cause the failure of small businesses. Past discussions on the ways of tackling the problem of economic failures did not include a new paradigm of civilization. The author attempted connections identified within his own research on the causes of economic failures of small businesses, such as the lack of general and detailed knowledge in management, necessary to coordinate the activities in the operational area, finance and marketing (a total of 80% in clinical indications from the former owners focused on these reasons), with the indicated paradigm. At the same time the author pointed out the importance of creating value for small businesses as a result of rapid adaptation to changes based on the agile organization concept or an occasion strategy. Small businesses face the need for a dynamic and often innovative responses to the phenomenon described in the new paradigm of civilization. Without changes tailored to the assumptions of this paradigm a firm will stagnate, which at the present time means the business failure.
