Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to explore complex gender relationships in the medieval legends by focusing on the fairy women who live in the magic forest and who want to test and beguile the wandering knights as they ride in the forest. One question central to representations of gender in these texts is whether the knights or the fairies love more.
