Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to show the use of opposing connectors in French and in Polish. Argumentative features may be distinguished, which may be useful in the translation of texts. Those features concern the character of opposition and its strength as well as the place of connectors in the clause. We also intend to find which parts of the clause and of the text are linked by connectors. It is a fact that some implied contents must be demonstrated in order that the use of connectors may be thoroughly understood.
