Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the word dialogue and its function in discourse. It turns out that we use this word primarily to refer to an interaction between two interlocutors, whose aim is to reach a consensus. Dialogue as a synonym of conversation appears less frequently. In the article we discuss other uses of words belonging to the same word formation family as dialogue such as: to dialogue, dialogical, dialogic.
