Summary/Abstract: According to resource-based theory, in order to compete for customers in the tourism market, an organization needs to compete for key resources first. A critical component of company’s resources is human capital embedded in its employees. Perceiving human resources as a source of competitive advantage in tourism highlights the need for research into determinants of employees’ attitudes and behaviors in the workplace. The purpose of the paper is to present the methodological framework for tourism labor market research from an employee perspective. The proposed framework is preceded by an analysis of research approaches applied in publications devoted to human resources in the tourism industry. Special attention was paid to subjective and spatial scope, sampling methods, and data collection techniques.
