Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the attempt to change the image of the Silesian Voivodeship that is based on promoting a positive perception of one part of this image – industrial heritage, previously perceived negatively and stereotypically. The article presents the results of research carried out for regional authorities by different research laboratories in different time periods. The results showed that activities carried out in the area of promotion and the creation of industrial tourism product, produced a partial effect. The change of the image into more positive and the appreciation of the attractiveness of the industrial heritage of the region, refer primarily to its residents. The residents of other regions of the country, look at the attractiveness of the Silesian Voivodeship primarily by the prism of parts not related with industrial heritage.
