Opportunities and threats to local government units in the aspect of the new financial perspective of the European Union 2014-2020

Summary/Abstract: Local government in Poland is one of the main players which control the development of the country, and one of the major beneficiaries of EU funds. The acquisition of local government funds from the EU budget and other foreign sources of non-repayable aid is combined with the fulfillment of the principles and criteria set out in the European and national legislation. To receive funding, projects must meet the objectives of Community policies and objectives set out in the national program documents approved by the European Commission and most of all answer to the needs of local communities. Hopefully the experience from the passing perspective will be effectively used in the new perspective for 2014-2020.
