Summary/Abstract: As a result of changes in the global distribution of economic power, the emergence of a global terrorist threat and the intensification of anti-Western rhetoric in the world, the role and position of the Transatlantic Community in the international system have changed. In the Cold War period, the Transatlantic Community was defined in the context of the East–West division and after the Cold War ended –the North–South division. In the recent years, under the influence of structural changes in the international system, it has been increasingly perceived as the Transatlantic Community vs. the Pacific Community. The aim of this article is therefore to answer the question about the essence of the Transatlantic Community and to define its place in the contemporary international system.
